Palm Oil Club III

In 2020 we finalised our first crowdfunded project comparing RSPO certified and non-certified palm oil. The follow-up project, launched in 2021, was completed in 2026 with a peer reviewed scientific paper. We are now starting the third phase, which turns this work into an annual time series so you can follow the impact of palm oil over time, geography and type of grower.

Club membership is a one-time fee of 5,200 EUR per company, valid until the end of the project. The project is kicked off once 15 members have joined, and any budget beyond that is used to expand the scope, for example more detailed data, improved models or further mitigation options, as decided by the members. The project is finalised with a peer reviewed scientific paper, expected in 2028.

The LCA covers results for 2016 and annually from 2021 onwards, spatial differentiation across the major producing countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Colombia and Nigeria), and a split between estates and smallholders. Subscription opens on 9 June 2026.
