We built a LCA tool for calculating the GHG emission savings of Marvasol's sand recovery system.


Sand as a bedding material for dairy cows offers health benefits for the cows and reduces bacterial growth - Sand recovery systems offers the possibility to separate and reuse bedding material again and again, with big environmental and economic benefits to the dairy farmer.

The aim of the project was to build a specific LCA model and Excel tool for MAVASOL to calculate the potential GHG emission savings from their sand recovery system (SRS) for dairy farms. This was done by comparing two alternative scenarios with and without the sand recovery system.
