Accumulated system result

Accumulated system result is a synonym for life cycle assessment result, representing the complete compilation of elementary exchanges and potential environmental impacts of a product system. The term covers both the life cycle inventory result, which lists all elementary flows crossing the system boundary, and the life cycle impact assessment result, which expresses these flows as potential environmental impacts across various impact categories.

The accumulated system result compiles all environmental data from an LCA study, giving a full picture of a product system's environmental performance. Combining inventory data with impact assessments lets practitioners and decision-makers understand the material and energy flows of a product and their environmental consequences. This makes it possible to identify environmental hotspots, compare alternative systems, and inform decisions on product design, procurement, and policy.
