
This project aimed at calculating the climate footprint of sugar beet cultivation in the United States, providing results at the country level as well as by state. The system boundaries were cradle-to-gate and included greenhouse-gas emissions in relation to inputs of agrochemicals, energy, direct and indirect land use change, storage in piling stations and transport to processing plants.


Ivan is our branch manager of our Barcelona office. He started working in life cycle assessment in 1998 and got his Ph.D. in environmental science in 2006 from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Ivan's areas of expertise include LCAs for ecodesign, solid waste management, water and wastewater treatment, agriculture and food production, including related tools like environmental risk assessment, life cycle costing and water footprinting. From 2009 to 2013 he worked in the UK for Unilever.
